Then I guess it helps that I go into these communities with my own set of beliefs already. I'm well aware of the kind of thinking that extremists from sites like 4chan and tumblr indulge in. I try to keep an open mind though, and dedicate myself to understanding both sides of any given argument because in my experience they each have a point to make. I try not to take any ideology seriously though, and listen to anything anyone says on social media with a grain of salt, knowing full well they're likely biased towards their own agenda. Browsing both tumblr and the chans also has the amusing benefit of seeing one cry about the other whenever something goes wrong, exaggerating the worst of those sites in an effort to create a stereotype for the whole of them instead of just specific factions.

This "Us versus them" mentality would be much more entertaining though if so many people didn't buy into it unquestioningly. Fear for that which is different has held humanity back for centuries however, that won't change anytime soon. We love simplifying things, sometimes just so we can have somebody to blame, sometimes because we don't want to see what's wrong with ourselves.

Huh, they got the creator of the original show to work on it? That's impressive, especially when the company that owns it shot down their original plan if I recall. It's not something I'm going to pledge support, but good for them.
