The idea that Skull was merely a mind-gratingly obvious stand-in for Trump's "grey area nationism" is just fucking nauseating. I wanted to hope that there was something more going on besides him wanting the people to fight amongst themselves (maybe with him and Hydra slowly taking over America from the shadows), but let's face facts here; Marvel is not smart or creative enough these days to pull something like that off.

Also, the comic has always kind of been at the forefront of politics, but writers back then had some decency not to shove their own agendas down your throat, they just presented both sides and let you make up your own mind. Tbh "subtlety" is obviously not Mr. Spencer's forte'

Huh, really? I heard nothing but good things about that Squirrel Girl comic, at least on the scans site I frequent. The art's a bit odd, but nothing about it seems 'angsty' to me.

There's this one character in the book who's black, and the vast majority of tumblr praised the artist for making a trangender character. Suffice to say that the character was revealed to be just a regular woman. That's how godawful the art is

Iunno if I'd call the art -bad-, just cartoonishly stylized. Faces do look a little odd, though, but the positive stuff I've heard seems to far outweigh the negative.

I mean I have adored this character since I was a child and I couldn't give less of a crap what Stan "the man" Lee thinks because he did fuck all during his tenure at the company beyond stealing credit

I mean, yeah, it's dumb, but at the same time, I don't get the outrage, exactly. Not the first time this sorta thing's happened, and it's usually just mind control/cosmic cube/etc shenanigans, so it just strikes me as a bit odd people that people are treating it so...controversially? Don't get me wrong, it IS dumb and a plot point that makes 0 sense, but the sheer amount of drama over it just seems a bit...eh to me.

Either way, from what I've seen of the issue, SOME sort of mindfuckery is afoot, so it's probably less "Cap was hydra all along!" and more someone made him THINK he was, since the former has so many issues that it'd never work as a premise.

Dude, it's modern Marvel, shit could last for about a year before some idiotic conclusion just lead into some horrible looking feminazi replacing Cap.

Marvel is lost and most fans fully expect it to die when people stop going to their movies. All DC needs to do is stop focusing all their money on making movies and take over the small screen or shoot all their heads and replace them with people who don't want to keep recycling things.

Marvel, die? Naaah. I hardly doubt one or two dumb things is going to kill one of the two big comic book companies. :V

What DC needs to do though is get out of this grimdark obsession. BvS probably could have been a decent movie if they weren't obsessed with edginess to the point of messing up characters. But nah, it's all boring, basically monochrome destruction in the movies, if what I've seen is any indication.

Oh, and on the comics end, them retconning Watchmen into the DC universe as the creators of the New 52 universe(Well, Dr.Manhattan is heavily implied to have created the New 52 universe) is really dumb and confusing. Not to mention basically blaming the New 52 on Watchmen(In the issue, it's actually said that 10 years of history removed and stuff was stolen to weaken the heroes and make the world more cynical, which, uh...), doesn't really come off well for DC. Not to say Rebirth is a BAD idea, just the execution...doesn't seem all that great, yeah.

Oh, and I guess I'm not dead. Hi!

Marvel has been hugely bleeding customers; hell, at some point comic stores pointed out that both Marvel and DC had fans coming in droves to cancel all their orders and asking for Image and Dark Horse or whoever instead. While DC may have started to try and get back to what fans like, Marvel has been running full steam ahead into the abyss that is Tumbler pandering. They're remodeling characters to be ugly when they're not outright replacing them, their stories have all been terrible and have been recycling old but recent shit (why is there a new Civil War, the first one sucked and lead to shitty period), the majority of their artists and writers are fanfiction tier and I mean the kind of fans that become fans because its' popular so the fan fiction is way crappier than usual crappiness.

I don't even need to read Iron Man to know that it's shit and wordy as fuck.

It is entirely Tumbler shit, that's why it's not angsty, because it relies on terrible jokes and bullshit story, it's the people I'm calling angsty. Nuangst niggrums. Maybe you shouldn't hang around them, sounds like they don't really care about anything they upload, just the attention they'll get.

The art is terrible, just because you don't give two shits about actual skill put into artwork doesn't mean people who have to pay 5 bucks a pop for a 15-18 page comic should do the same. Cape comics, like Shounen manga, is partly about how well it looks and how they beat the villain which webcomic tier art and a writer that plays a joke mary sue character straight is nowhere near.

Please tell me, what could possibly be positive of such an ugly piece of shit and you better not say anything involving how thick the artist made Squirrel Girl.

Not quoting due to all the huge images, since I don't wanna make the thread super long or anything. That, and images of you hitting me or whatever don't really contribute anything, so...eh.

First off, can we leave insults out of this? I've gotten enough art-related shit as it is lately(Although, admittedly I'm defensive and might be misreading one comment,so if I am, sorry!), thank you very much. Anyways:

For the Cap thing: I doubt it? I mean, there's already 2 Captain Amercias running around as it is(Falcon still has the original shield, then there's Steve), so I doubt they'd do anything like that.

As for Civil War 2, yeah it's dumb(In particularly the fact they killed off She-Hulk for dumb drama), no argument there... but I haven't heard anything about people mass-canceling. I mean, I can't think of anything notably super good lately, but it's been a while since there was anything super bad. Just sorta average right now.

As for the third thing...what? Attention-seeking has nothing to do with it? I'm baffled by what you're going on about here. It's just a site that uploads a few pages from new comics after they come out, so it's not really a matter of not caring or anything? But again, what?

As for Squirrel Girl, I recall people liking the lightheartnedness? It does seem to have a certain, ah, 'fun' to it, so I can see why people are willing to forgive some iffy art.

Nem, people are entitled to like whatever the fuck they want and Squirrel Girl's "bad quality" doesn't bother me nearly as much as I portrayed it to be, I'm just tired of being on the four course shitstain of a rollercoaster that is Marvel. I love Howard The Duck too, but the way he's been rewritten, he's obviously not intended for me anymore and is more geared towards the Deadpool crowd

Can't do that; anyone who has enjoyed the shit story and/or terrible are of "The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl" deserves to get shit on.

Well the cancelling was a year or two ago but they haven't really done anything that would draw fans back.

Don't think anyone cares much for She-Hulk.

I never been around people in the comic/manga scanning field but I imagine they're like the translators.

Powerpack miniseries was lighthearted, this is just; as I've said before "Bad Fanfiction".

That's why you take the images out; Ninny.

The original and new Deadpool crowd would find that hugely offensive. At least I think it would, all I know is they tried to make some race or trans thing out of a Duck detective or whatever he is.

I have never found Deadpool interesting in the least, though the Ryan Reynolds movie was pretty fucking fun for what it was. And what I meant when I said that "I felt like Chip Zdarsky was trying to pander to the Deadpool crowd", I meant more like he was trying to make Howard something that people who don't normally read comics would enjoy. Same with Squirrel Girl, Gwenpool, and Patsy Walker
