Part of the ever lasting appeal of SNK was their ridiculously detailed and high quality 2D sprites (though their early attempts leave a little to be desired), take that away and SNK is just another video game company

bullshit I did, Ace. the combat thing was it's own independent thought, while the entire rest of that post was an unrelated thought about how I haven't been doing enough grinding because I've been playing games where there is no grinding for the past several months.

Exactly, grinding should have a reward at the end, not be a chore for basic equipment. I usually grind in the beginning of RPGs to just steam roll through the rest of the game.
